About the Author

A Scientist and a writer

A true Renaissance woman, Ash has done it all, from donning an easter bunny suit at the Philly Zoo, a wet suit at the New England Aquarium, a power suit in an international board room, and a scientist suit (lab coat and goggles) in a number of different labs.

While she follows many different areas of interest including acting, working with animals, and politics, she has two true passions in life: science and the written word. Fascinated by conservational programs, Ash endeavors to jot as much down as she possibly can. Her passion has led to the culmination of her thesis entitled Conservational Conversations, in which she challenges the notions of zoos and their relationship to the ecological endeavors of scientists around the world who share her concern for the future of all the animals affected by human infringement.

With a BS in Biology and an MA in Writing Studies, she continues to try to cultivate a niche for herself in the ever-changing world. Currently employed in the pharmaceutical marketing and advertising industry, she uses her science background and writing ability to take that which is clinical and dry to a more poignant place where the raw data can be understood by the masses. Though she is heartily interested in researching medical breakthroughs, she sees this as merely a stepping stone on her way to becoming a formidable science writer.

Perhaps one day we shall see her work gracing the pages of National Geographic regarding the cure for cancer, or perhaps the implications of natural selection for those animals currently on the Endangered Species Act. Whatever the topic, we will see Ashley’s work in print some day, for her words invoke the spirit of a true believer in the natural order… that of life, regardless of its limitations.
